Special Projects

Fund Our Centennial Terrace!

The teaching studio of world-renowned Metropolitan Opera soprano Marcella Sembrich (1858-1935) has been a center for musical arts through education and performance since 1924.

To commemorate The Sembrich’s 2024 centennial, we have installed a terrace recognizing those who helped us achieve this milestone. As 2024 approaches, we invite you to fund the Centennial Terrace by purchasing your own personalized brick. Adding your brick to the terrace shows your commitment to preserving this important cultural landmark and sustaining a lasting legacy of outstanding music and culture on Lake George.

Planned Giving

The Sembrich continues the tradition of philanthropy set forth by our namesake Marcella Sembrich. Born to humble means, it was through the generosity of admirers of her musical abilities that she was able to continue her education and become one of the greatest musicians of a generation. Throughout her life, she championed philanthropic causes and gave back to the communities that had so generously and faithfully supported her. Following in her footsteps was her daughter-in-law and the museum’s founder Juliette de Coppet Stengel who generously donated the lakeside studio and grounds which are known today as The Sembrich. Today, The Sembrich and its programs actively enrich our community and preserve a unique piece of cultural history.

The Hillman Leadership Society

In 2001, Ernest Hillman, Jr. one of The Sembrich’s most generous benefactors and President Emeritus of The Sembrich’s Board of Directors, chose to include The Sembrich in his financial plans – believing that The Sembrich and the unique historical and cultural programs it provides should and must be sustained.

Throughout his life, Mr. Hillman provided major support and strong leadership which helped grow and sustain The Sembrich and our mission for nearly six decades. Before his passing in 2001, Mr. Hillman made a substantial bequest that continues to sustain The Sembrich to this day.

Members and supporters who carry on Sembrich’s legacy of philanthropy, so generously continued by Mr. Hillman and others, play a key role in the longevity of The Sembrich. The Hillman Leadership Society was created to recognize donors who generously provide or pledge gifts for The Sembrich’s future through bequests, trusts, life insurance, charitable gift annuities, and other special estate gifts.

Members of the Hillman Leadership Society understand the vital role that The Sembrich plays in our community and the need to preserve this valuable and unique cultural resource. Legacy gifts reflect a deep commitment and belief in The Sembrich’s mission and the communities we serve. We invite you to make a lasting difference by including The Sembrich in your financial or estate planning. Your gift, in addition to sustaining The Sembrich’s programs and securing our future, also offers you important income and tax benefits.

Types of planned gifts include:

  • Bequests in the form of cash, securities or other properties

  • Gifts of life insurance and retirement benefits

  • Charitable Remainder Trusts

  • Charitable Lead Trusts

The Sembrich highly recommends that you discuss your gift plans with your lawyer, accountant, or financial advisor.
