The Days Count Down Toward A NIGHT IN BUDAPEST

—Limited seating still available for The Sembrich’s annual Gala—

BOLTON LANDING, NY — The days are counting down with some limited seating still available for The Sembrich’s annual end-of-season Gala on Saturday, August 25th at 6:30 pm.  Billed as “an exotic evening along the Danube,” A NIGHT IN BUDAPEST features select delicacies and wines and performances by violinist Daniel Szasz and cimbalom virtuoso Laci Rácz.  Tickets, with proceeds to benefit the summer performance series, are $150.  Reservations are required and can be made by calling (518) 644-2431.

The program for the evening pairs the soulful strains of the violin with the distinctly Hungarian timbre of the cimbalom (an instrument similar in sound to the hammer dulcimer). Select works on the program include Brahms’ “Hungarian Dances,” Vecsey’s “Valse Triste,” Lehar’s “Hungarian Fantasy,” Bartók’s “An Evening in the Village” and Liszt’s “Csardas,” among many others.

The duo of Szasz and Rácz will be augmented in several numbers by the Üsztürü Ensemble, a troupe of six instrumentalists and two dancers from Hungary, who serve as this season’s Flonzaley Resident Ensemble at The Sembrich—and who will also provide entertainment during the lakeside reception.
