Bel Canto Scholarship Winners to Perform at The Sembrich

—A Program of Italian Songs and Arias—

BOLTON LANDING, NY —  On Thursday, August 10th at 7:30 pm, scholarship winners from the Bel Canto Institute’s Summer Session in Florence come to The Sembrich to perform a selection of songs and arias in the Italian vocal tradition of bel canto (“beautiful singing”). Tickets are $30.

The Bel Canto Institute, founded in 1987 by former Metropolitan Opera Prompter and Assistant Conductor Jane Bakken Klaviter, grants four weeks of study abroad in Florence, Italy to select singers.

The Performance Award recipients set to perform at The Sembrich this season include three sopranos, Helle Gössler Christensen from Copenhagen, Madeleine Gotschlich from Maine and Nicole Chan from China as well as pianist Kristina Kocanski from Serbia.

“This is a priceless experience for these young artists, to perform in the room where Marcella Sembrich once taught,” states Bel Canto director Klaviter.
